Hitchcock's Psycho celebrates 55 years

Famed director Alfred Hitchcock's iconic horror film Psycho was released 55 years ago on 4th August. Ranked among the greatest films of all time and Oscar-nominated, Psycho is a psychological thriller which caused controversy with film censors around the world.

It was first shown in cinemas in 1960, and was so successful it was re-released in 1965.

The film follows a Phoenix secretary (Janet Leigh) who steals $40,000 from her employer's client. On the run, she checks into a remote motel run by a young man (Anthony Perkins) under the domination of his mother.

Famous for its shocking shower scene, the film is a great title for a spooky outdoor screening, particularly with Halloween just around the corner!
