On the 8th May 2015, people from around the world will mark the 70th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day - the day that World War II ended in Europe.
Looking ahead, we thought we'd take a look back at the films inspired by this momentus occasion and World War II as a whole:
- Fury: As the Allies make their final push in the European Theatre, a battle-hardened army sergeant named Wardaddy (Brad Pitt) commands a Sherman tank and her five-man crew on a deadly mission behind enemy lines. Outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their platoon, Wardaddy and his men face overwhelming odds in their heroic attempts to strike at the heart of Nazi Germany.
- Saving Private Ryan: Captain John Miller (Tom Hanks) is ordered to take his squad behind enemy lines to find one man, Pte James Ryan, sole surviving brother of four after all his siblings were killed in action within days of one another.
