How to Play Your Licensed Film | Online Screenings

Online or hybrid screening

Use our Virtual Screening Room (VSR) to create or extend an event online. To check if a film is available for VSR, look in the Notes section of the film page.

The VSR streaming fee costs £2.50 excl. VAT per ten audience members, plus the standard licence fee.

To license a film for VSR, simply email vsr@filmbankmedia.com.

How to use the Virtual Screening Room (VSR)

1 Choose your film

Check the Notice section on the film page to see if a film is available for VSR.

Email us at vsr@filmbankmedia.com to license your title.

2 Set up your VSR

It's a synchronised event (on and offline audience watches at the same time).

Just set the date, time, event name, and decide if you want our built-in chat. Then, simply provide the number of attendees.

3 Invite your audience

We’ll send you a set of credentials to share with your audience including a URL along with unique logins for each member.

Screen your film online to your audience

4 Host your event

Ask guests to test their setup beforehand, as the film starts automatically and can’t be paused. If chat is included, you and your audience can discuss the film.

Inclusive

No need for anyone to miss out! If any audience members are unable to attend your venue, they can instead join in and view the screening using the VSR.

Personalised

Choose a name for your VSR, pick a film, set the time and select your audience.

Accessible

Your audience can join your VSR from their computers with using Google Chrome browser. They can watch on the small screen or plug into their home-office cinema.

You can also extend your audience: guests can choose their preferred audio languages or subtitles from the options available. Availability varies per title.

Connected

Bring your remote audience together through the shared experience of watching a screening all at the same time.

FAQs

What is an online, virtual or hybrid screening?

An online or virtual screening is when a film is streamed to your audience over the internet, so they can watch remotely from their own device. A hybrid screening combines both in-person and online elements, for example, hosting a physical event in a venue while also making the film available to stream remotely for those who cannot attend in person. How much is a film licence if using the Virtual Screening Room?

The film licence cost is separate from the screening medium and subject to the same pricing as an in-person event.

Can the screening organiser brand the Virtual Screening Room?

You can name your Virtual Screening Room to show at the top of the page but the branding, including colourways and logos, can’t be changed.
