Synopsis:

Loosely-based remake of the popular 1943 film, A Guy Named Joe, with Dreyfuss in the Spencer Tracy role, as Pete, ace fire-fighter pilot whose heroic efforts to save his buddy’s life result in his own untimely death. However, he is bound by a Guardian Angel (a welcome return to the screen from Audrey Hepburn) to remain on earth as an inspirational mentor to Ted, a young trainee pilot starting out in his flying career. Yet, when Ted begins to fall in love with Pete’s mourning girlfriend, Dorinda, he finds it very hard to be the mentor he is supposed to be.
