Public Video Screening Licence for English State Schools

If you are a state-funded English school, the Department for Education has already procured a PVSL on your behalf.

Simpler and easier for schools

Since 2014, Filmbankmedia has partnered with the Department for Education (DfE) in England to make film copyright licensing simpler and more accessible for schools and academies.

Through this agreement, the DfE acquires film copyright licences on behalf of state-maintained schools in England. This allows them to legally screen films from studios and distributors participating in the PVSL scheme for non-commercial and entertainment purposes — without the need to charge students.

If you are unsure whether you are covered, please confirm with your Local Authority.

Submit your PVSL quarterly report here

All PVSL holders, including schools, are required to submit a report on a quarterly basis detailing the films screened in their school.
